About
This website is a personal project whose main objective is to share with other sea lovers any possible location of orcas off the coasts of Portugal and Spain. Please support my work.
Over the last few years, there have been a lot of incidents between orcas and boats, essentially sailboats. If sailors know where orcas are, they reduce the possibility and the risk of incidents, which can have dramatic consequences, like the four boats which sank in 2022 and 2023.
In October 2022, a community of sailors was created to share the known location of orcas, experiences, and possible solutions to this problem. Initially, it was a small WhatsApp group, but soon, sailors and people who love the sea understood that this platform could be a helpful tool for those who want to minimize the risks of accidents with orcas.
This website and all the work, all the costs related to the domain, servers, such as the management/administration of Telegram Group, etc, are supported by you.
Orcas.pt has some Telegram groups that are the basis of a community with more than 1,500 members to help the sailors' community.
We also have maps updated daily, showing the sailors where the orcas are active and the maps from October 2022 to now.

The sense of community is usually solid among sailors; here, it is even more. In this community, members help manage and minimize the risks by sharing the positions, routes, and information about what to do in case of an event.
As members of orcas.pt, everybody has access to the Telegram Groups, where we share essential information with those sailing in Orca Alley.
There is a strong tie between the members of this community, and we help one another to prevent an attack and in case of one. We also share information on subjects that are only related to sailing.
I would say that we have a tribe spirit.
